Mines, Quarries & Landfill Surveys
Aspect Land & Hydrographic Surveys Ltd has a wealth of experience, having worked for many regional and national mine, quarry and landfill operators.
Our success is underpinned by our understanding of site operations, which has resulted in many interesting projects including landfill and quarry updates, quarry stockpile surveys and volumetric calculations, pre-contract and as-built surveys of earthworks and bathymetric surveys of ponds and lagoons. Information is often used for commercial and financial purposes and therefore accuracy is critical.
Site conditions often dictate that a variety of surveys are required, utilising a wide range of survey platforms and equipment. These include survey grade RTK GNSS rovers, Total Stations with reflector-less technology, 3D laser scanners [fixed and mobile] UAV LiDAR technology and singlebeam or multibeam echosounders.
Our staff have completed the core SPA & Quarry Safety Passport course and, where required, are qualified to operate 4×4 ATV quad bikes, survey launches and fixed wing or multi-rotor UAV drones.
All the data is processed in-house utilising LSS 3D modelling software and can be output in AutoCAD, PDF & XYZ file format in addition to colour point cloud date sets, high-resolution digital stills and geo-referenced site-wide ortho-mosaic imagery.
Specialist computational software is used to provide volumetric calculation sheets for each material type, where required, accompanied by a QA assurance statement, often necessary when verifying third-party stockpiles.
Given the nature of quarry works and obvious health & safety implications when working adjacent heavy plant and equipment, the ability to survey via remote means ensures works are completed in a safe, risk free manner with minimal delay to the client’s day-to-day operations.
