SENIOR HYDROGRAPHIC SURVEYOR / PARTY CHIEF

Due to the continued expansion of our portfolio of survey services we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Hydrographic Surveyor / Party Chief  to join our team and to support operational and QA processes.

The successful candidate will assist the management team with the running of the Hydrographic Survey Department, with  responsibility for the management of delegated projects to meet agreed timescales and client expectations and involvement in the supervision, training and development of staff within the hydrographic survey team.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Support the management team in the efficient running of the department.
  • Act as Party Chief on specific projects.
  • Maintain effective lines of communication with management, colleagues and clients.
  • Have the ability to make decisions and possess a can-do attitude.
  • Provide technical knowledge to the commercial team to assist with tendering and enquiries.
  • Participate in the supervision and training of Hydrographic Surveyors / Graduate Hydrographic Surveyors.
  • Undertake hydrographic surveys including client liaison, on site data collection, post processing, analysis, presentation, charting and reporting of survey data, acting as Project Lead when required.
  • Co-ordinate and progress survey activities in accordance with Scope of Work, Technical Specifications and relevant procedures to ensure compliance with QA processes.
  • Assist with vessel and survey equipment mobilisation / maintenance to ensure that calibration, certification and servicing routines are completed in accordance with manufacturer and industry standards.
  • Maintain and take responsibility for a healthy and safe working environment and work in accordance with company policy and statutory requirements at all times, ensuring compliance by junior staff.

Essential Criteria:

Candidates should have a degree in a survey/marine related discipline and / or professional accreditation (e.g. IHO Cat A, RICS, MCInstCES or MIMarEST etc.) and demonstrable relevant industry experience at senior level.

  • Experience in QPS QiNSY, Qimera, Fledermaus, Hypack, EIVA NaviSuite, and Chesapeake SonarWiz acquisition & processing software packages.
  • Acquisition and processing of Multibeam & Singlebeam Bathymetry and data from Side-scan Sonar, Magnetometer, Geophysical & LiDAR Sensors.
  • CAD & GIS skills are essential
  • Demonstrable relevant industry experience at senior level.
  • Effective decision-making skills and a positive ‘can-do’ attitude.
  • Boat handling experience, RYA / MCA Commercial endorsement advantageous.
  • Driving License and ability to tow trailers up to 3,500kg.
  • Ability to spend periods of time away from home is essential.

PRINCIPAL SURVEYOR / COMPLIANCE MANAGER

Due to the continued expansion of our portfolio of survey services we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to join our team in a managerial role, to support operational and QA processes.

Reporting to the Senior Management Team, the Principal Surveyor / Compliance Manager will contribute to the tendering process, facilitate project management and provide guidance and technical leadership to survey teams and is expected to make a significant contribution to business development and to the ongoing success of the company. They will be responsible for maintaining the ISO9001 standards that are already established and will contribute to improve processes, where possible.

The role will be office based, with no anticipated requirement for site working, although this may be requested in exceptional circumstances.

The role requires an individual who is efficient, analytical and able work to tight deadlines. The capacity to work autonomously as well as in a team is important, as is the ability to effectively co-ordinate input from several stakeholders.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate complete tender process, managing response times to ensure that specified submission timescales are achieved
  • Access portal notifications / written notifications and distribute PQQ & tender information appropriately.
  • Read and dissect all PQQs & tenders entering relevant information on PQQ system.
  • Allocate questions to members of staff with appropriate expertise, breaking them down into a suitable format to ensure relevant, focused responses.
  • Produce PQQ, tender support documents, tender submission documents and quote presentations.
  • Review proposals, supporting materials and client-facing documents for accuracy (grammar, style, continuity and content).
  • Update and maintain tender information library.
  • Obtain and collate post tender feedback and prepare for analysis.
  • Monitor instructed projects to ensure delivery within agreed parameters, monitoring resource expenditure and ensuring profitability targets are met.
  • Overseeing of QC processes and final drawings / reports of works completed by the team, dealing with non-conformance issues and reporting findings to the Management Team.
  • Preparation of quality assurance activity reports/quality input for project reporting and management reviews as requested
  • Assume and perform other duties and responsibilities not specifically outline above, but which are logically and properly inherent to the position.

Essential Criteria:

The successful candidate will have extensive experience across a broad range of survey disciplines and be able to demonstrate involvement in the preparation of tender bids and detailed PPQs, as well as experience of QA monitoring.

  • Extensive knowledge of the survey industry and experience of preparing method statements & project implementation plans within the construction industry is essential.
  • Strong presentation, layout and editing skills, using good written English, and the ability to retain information on equipment and methodologies, case studies, legal requirements and corporate information will ensure the writing of high-quality proposals.
  • Demonstrable experience in line with the requirements of the role.
  • Degree qualification in relevant specialism and/or Professional Membership of a Chartered Institution.
  • Experience in planning projects involving multiple disciplines to meet deadlines / targets.
  • Experience in identifying business opportunities and marketing same to clients.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • Ability to successfully deliver results within a competitive commercial environment.
  • Full UK Driving License.

SENIOR DATA PROCESSOR

Due to the continued expansion of our portfolio of survey services we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to join our team in a data processing role, to support operational and QA processes.

A Data Processor with ALHS will be responsible for taking a leading role in progressing data processing to assist with the progression of projects within agreed timescales, performing data processing and QA processes as well as assisting with the preparation of reports and deliverables to client specifications.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Support the Aerial, Land & Hydrographic departments to ensure that best practice is adopted in relation to data processing across the relative survey departments.
  • Assist surveyors with project preparation, data processing and reporting.
  • Provide technical knowledge to the commercial team to assist with tendering and enquiries.
  • Effectively apply specific geodesy and datum conversion requirements.
  • Review / QC project documentation and final reports to ensure completeness and accuracy.
  • Remain up to date with industry software and processing techniques.

Essential Criteria:

  • CAD & GIS skills and attention to detail are essential to the role.
  • Candidates should have a degree in a survey/marine related discipline and/or professional accreditation or a comparable level of expertise.
  • Demonstrable relevant experience in data processing and reporting of deliverables including 3D Image and surface-based modelling, Point Clouds, Feature Extraction, Classification & Vectorisation, BIM, 3D LAS & XYZ outputs etc.
  • Data processing experience involving the use of a suite of different software packages, including QPS QiNSY, Qimera, Fledermaus, Hypack, EIVA NaviSuite, Applanix POSPac MMS, Trimble TBC, ACAD, REVIT, Pix4D, Agisoft Metashape & Reality Capture etc.
  • Integrating composite high-resolution data sets derived from UAVs, USVs, Multibeam echosounder, Static, Mobile & Aerial acquired LiDAR & Photogrammetric sensors.

LAND SURVEYORS

Due to our expanding portfolio of survey services we have an exciting opportunity for experienced Land Surveyors to join our team.

The role will involve working within an experienced survey team, on a variety of sites throughout the UK and occasionally further field, utilising RTK GNSS, Total Stations & Laser Scanning equipment. Due to the nature of the work, a flexible approach to working hours is essential, as is a willingness to stay away when necessary.

Essential Criteria

  • Survey related qualification to Degree / HND level.

  • Proficiency in AutoCad and survey processing software such as Trimble TBC, PosPac & LSS
  • Good problem solving, self-management and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently to tight deadlines
  • Full UK Driving License
