As part of the Ayrshire Chamber of Commerce’s year of celebrations commemorating 70 years in business, a ‘Platinum Champions’ five-a-side football tournament was organised and member organisations asked to field a team.
With the top four teams from the day progressing to the finals to be played at Rugby Park, home of Kilmarnock Football Club, Aspect’s resident would-be footballers dusted off their boots for one last time this season.
Early tournament form saw them win the first two games 9-0 and 2-0 respectively, with a 2-2 draw in the third game. With everything to play for, the final game ended 6-0 to Aspect but it wasn’t enough to see them through – missing out on top spot on goal difference by a solitary goal.
A great effort from all who played, with Alex Sommerville crowned the team’s top scorer with six goals.
