SENIOR HYDROGRAPHIC SURVEYOR / PARTY CHIEF

Due to the continued expansion of our portfolio of survey services we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Hydrographic Surveyor / Party Chief  to join our team and to support operational and QA processes.

The successful candidate will assist the management team with the running of the Hydrographic Survey Department, with  responsibility for the management of delegated projects to meet agreed timescales and client expectations and involvement in the supervision, training and development of staff within the hydrographic survey team.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Support the management team in the efficient running of the department.
  • Act as Party Chief on specific projects.
  • Maintain effective lines of communication with management, colleagues and clients.
  • Have the ability to make decisions and possess a can-do attitude.
  • Provide technical knowledge to the commercial team to assist with tendering and enquiries.
  • Participate in the supervision and training of Hydrographic Surveyors / Graduate Hydrographic Surveyors.
  • Undertake hydrographic surveys including client liaison, on site data collection, post processing, analysis, presentation, charting and reporting of survey data, acting as Project Lead when required.
  • Co-ordinate and progress survey activities in accordance with Scope of Work, Technical Specifications and relevant procedures to ensure compliance with QA processes.
  • Assist with vessel and survey equipment mobilisation / maintenance to ensure that calibration, certification and servicing routines are completed in accordance with manufacturer and industry standards.
  • Maintain and take responsibility for a healthy and safe working environment and work in accordance with company policy and statutory requirements at all times, ensuring compliance by junior staff.

Essential Criteria:

Candidates should have a degree in a survey/marine related discipline and / or professional accreditation (e.g. IHO Cat A, RICS, MCInstCES or MIMarEST etc.) and demonstrable relevant industry experience at senior level.

  • Experience in QPS QiNSY, Qimera, Fledermaus, Hypack, EIVA NaviSuite, and Chesapeake SonarWiz acquisition & processing software packages.
  • Acquisition and processing of Multibeam & Singlebeam Bathymetry and data from Side-scan Sonar, Magnetometer, Geophysical & LiDAR Sensors.
  • CAD & GIS skills are essential
  • Demonstrable relevant industry experience at senior level.
  • Effective decision-making skills and a positive ‘can-do’ attitude.
  • Boat handling experience, RYA / MCA Commercial endorsement advantageous.
  • Driving License and ability to tow trailers up to 3,500kg.
  • Ability to spend periods of time away from home is essential.

Candidates must live within (or be willing to relocate to) a commutable distance of the company’s head office in Irvine. Alternatively, expressions of interest for posts based at a new subsidiary office in Edinburgh would be welcomed.

LAND SURVEYORS

Due to our expanding portfolio of survey services we have an exciting opportunity for experienced Land Surveyors to join our team.

The role will involve working within an experienced survey team, on a variety of sites throughout the UK and occasionally further field, utilising RTK GNSS, Total Stations & Laser Scanning equipment. Due to the nature of the work, a flexible approach to working hours is essential, as is a willingness to stay away when necessary.

Duties will include:

  • Topographic Surveys
  • River Sections & Bathymetric Surveys
  • Measured Building Surveys
  • Static & Mobile Laser Scanning
  • 3D Photogrammetry
  • Working with UAVs
  • 3D Modelling & BIM
  • GNSS PPK Post-processing
  • Processing Survey data and issuing drawings/reports
  • Liaising with Clients
  • Identifying and mitigating potential QHSE risks
  • Managing delegated projects to meet agreed requirements

Essential Criteria

  • Survey related qualification to Degree / HND level.
  • Demonstrable surveying / data processing experience across a range of survey disciplines
  • Proficiency in AutoCad and survey processing software such as Trimble TBC, PosPac & LSS
  • Good problem solving, self-management and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently to tight deadlines
  • Full UK Driving License
