SENIOR HYDROGRAPHIC SURVEYOR

As a Senior Hydrographic Surveyor you will assist the Hydrographic Survey Manager and wider management team with the running of the Hydrographic Survey Department. You will be responsible for the management of delegated projects to meet agreed timescales and client expectations and will be involved in the supervision, training and development of staff within the hydrographic survey team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Hydrographic Survey Manager in the efficient running of the department.
  • Participate in the supervision and training of Hydrographic Surveyors / Graduate Hydrographic Surveyors.
  • Undertake hydrographic surveys including on site data collection, post processing, analysis, presentation, charting and reporting of survey data, acting as Project Lead when required.
  • Co-ordinate and progress survey activities in accordance with Scope of Work, Technical Specifications and relevant procedures, to ensure compliance with QA processes.
  • Assist with vessel and survey equipment maintenance to ensure that calibration, certification and servicing routines are completed in accordance with manufacturer and industry standards.
  • Maintain and take responsibility for a healthy and safe working environment and work in accordance with company policy and statutory requirements at all times, ensuring compliance by junior staff.
  • Keep up to date with technical developments, standards and working practices and assist with implementation where appropriate.
  • Assist with the sharing of interdepartmental expertise to facilitate cross-discipline projects.
  • Actively promote and represent Aspect Land & Hydrographic Surveys in a professional manner.

Key Skills:

  • Candidates should have a degree in a survey/marine related discipline and/or professional accreditation (e.g. RICS, MCInstCES or MIMarEST etc)
  • Demonstrable relevant industry experience at senior level.
    Experience in Hypack acquisition and Fledermaus processing software.
  • Acquisition and processing of Multibeam & Singlebeam Bathymetry and data from Side-scan Sonar, Geophysical & LiDAR Sensors.
  • CAD & GIS skills are essential
  • Boat handling experience, RYA/MCA Commercial endorsement would be advantageous.
  • DVLA Driving License with ability to tow trailers
  • Ability to spend periods of time on site and away from home is essential.

You must live within (or be willing to relocate to) a commutable distance of the Aspect Land & Hydrographic Surveys Ltd office in Irvine, North Ayrshire.

UAV AERIAL, LAND & HYDROGRAPHIC DATA PROCESSOR

As a Data Processor you will be responsible for taking a leading role in progressing data processing to assist with the progression of projects within agreed timescales. You will be required to perform data processing and QA processes as well as assisting with the preparation of reports and deliverables to client specifications.

Data processing involves the use of a suite of different software packages, including Hypack, Fledermaus, POSPac MMS, Trimble TBC, ACAD, Static, Mobile & Aerial acquired LiDAR & Photogrammetry and Point Cloud Classification & Vectorisation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Land & Hydrographic Survey Managers to ensure that best practice is adopted in relation to data processing within the land & hydrographic survey departments.
  • Assist surveyors with project preparation, data processing and reporting.
  • Provide technical knowledge to the commercial team to assist with tendering and enquiries.
  • Effectively apply specific geodesy and datum conversion requirements.
  • Review / QC project documentation and final reports to ensure completeness and accuracy.
  • Remain up to date with industry software and processing techniques.
  • Work closely as part of a team.

The following key skills and attributes are desirable:

  • Candidates should have a degree in either a survey / land / marine related discipline and / or professional accreditation (e.g. RICS, MCInstCES or MIMarEST etc).
  • Relevant industry experience.
  • Experience in Hypack acquisition and Fledermaus processing software.
  • Acquisition and processing of Multibeam & Singlebeam Bathymetry and data from Side-scan Sonar, Geophysical & LiDAR Sensors.
  • Large, high resolution, data-set manipulation between above water and below water acquired data.
  • 3D Point Cloud Editing of LAS & XYZ files.
  • CAD & GIS skills are essential.
