Aspect Surveys own and operate a Kongsberg EM3002 Dual Head multibeam system.
The system was purchased in September 2006 and has been used extensively on a wide variety of projects including bathymetric surveys to IHO Special Order standard, environmental surveys, offshore renewable energy projects, dock wall inspections, marine archaeology projects, wreck and object detection and dredging projects.
Our custom-built road transportable survey vessel was designed specifically with multibeam bathymetry in mind. This combination of vessel and equipment has proven to provide a cost effective approach, achieving data quality to the highest standards. With limited mobilisation time and almost plug and play setup, we can offer an excellent hydrographic survey service to our clients. Our vessel has operated in demanding environments in the far extents of the country including the Western Isles, Northern Isles, the West, East & South Coasts of England.
Our multibeam system hardware includes a Seatex MRU 5, Trimble MS 860 Dual Antenna RTK GPS (0.03º heading), Valeport mini SV probe, OSIL SV&P probe with data capture and post processing utilising SIS and Hysweep software.
The system has excellent backscattering seabed image reflectivity and is capable of mapping biomass in the water column. We have operated the equipment in shallow water depths and have also achieved excellent data quality in saltwater depths of 170m, which is excellent for a high-resolution system operating at 300kHz.
